Homebuyer Education

Homebuyer Education is designed to increase knowledge and build new skills in the area of homeownership. NeighborWorks® America's mission is to create opportunities for people to live in affordable homes, improve their lives and strengthen their communities. Subjects covered during this 8 hour course will include:

  • Homeownership readiness and affordability
  • Money and credit management
  • Types of properties and financing available
  • Purchase, mortgage, and closing processes
  • Home maintenance and financial management after you've bought your home.
The course focuses not only on purchasing the home, but also addresses issues about keeping the home. The Lee County Housing Development Corporation is providing this event. The LCHDC is presently working with Lee County and the sale of homes through the National Neighborhood Stabilization Program (NSP).

The fee collected is to cover the cost of the textbook provided: Realizing The American Dream by NeighborWorks®, handouts, and use of the facility. Lunch will be provided for all attendees.

Attendees who complete the 8 hour course will have satisfied the educational requirements for down payment assistance, Florida Housing Finance Corporation and the NSP Program.

The class is offered on the 3rd Saturday of each month at the REALTOR® Association of Greater Fort Myers and the Beach, Inc. Education Center.

The Education Center is located at 4081 Center Pointe Drive in Fort Myers, FL (behind the Association offices). To respect everyone's commitment, please try to arrive at 8:15 am to complete registration and get seated.  Click on the following link to register online for the next class:
