Somerset and Bridgetown combine to make up the master planned community of The Plantation. They are gated communities side by side, laid out among the natural flow of the lakes and preserves. The Plantation is in the perfect location, just off Daniels and Treeline Avenue, close to schools, including Florida Gulf Coast University, SWFL International Airport and Gulf Coast Town Center for shopping and restaurants.

Bridgetown has almost equal acreage given to preserves and waterways. At the center of the community activity, Centex has plans for Bridgetown Hall with over 9000 square feet including a fitness center, locker rooms, sauna, billiard room, card room and library. Outdoors there will be a swimming pool and sun deck as well as tennis courts and basketball court. At this time, the Bridgetown residents will be sharing the activities center at Somerset Hall until further development of the community is completed.

Somerset is anchored by the The Plantation golf course designed by renowned golf course architects, Hurdzan-Fry. The course was designed to provide a challenging and fun round of golf for both the recreational player and the more competitive golfer. For the skilled player, the course stretches to 7,233 yards; there are additional tees, at 6,869 yards, 6,413 yards, 5,873 yards, and 5,217 yards. After finishing a round of golf, stop in at the Great House named after a West Indies Plantation, for refreshments, cards or a round of billiards. The Great House is the golf clubhouse with over 30,000 square feet and includes the golf pro shop, men’s and women’s card rooms and locker rooms, billiards, wrap around terraces and Dartington’s; the restaurant and bar with 2 fireplaces.

The Plantation is owned by Centex Homes and offers an Associate (Annual) membership which is non-equity and non-proprietary, creating no equity or ownership interest for the members and consequently, no operating or capital assessments.
